Engage 2025. Still high standards of quality events (with big announcements from HCL)

A new year, a new Engage. This is the first one where Kris and Tom have taken the reins, continuing the great things that make Engage a unique event.

Although the first thing that catches your eye is the decrease in attendance. Maybe the city wasn’t drawing enough attention? Has interest in the platform waned? This has meant that sessions had fewer attendees compared to other years, making them more intimate. As a result, in some sessions, the discussion went beyond the presentation, and a conversation developed between the presenter and the audience.

The fact is, with a lack of interesting announcements, people might think it’s not worth attending. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. Attending an event like this is ALWAYS worth it.

I’m sure that following HCL’s announcements, Engage will return to the attendance numbers of previous years. Unlike other years, some very interesting things have been announced.

During the Keynote, we were shown the strong response HCL engineers provided to the bug at the start of the year, as well as new features within the Domino server, such as Domino IQ and the announcement of the new Lotus Workspace.

Another of the new announcements is ‘Lotus Workspace’. This is the first time HCL has used the ‘Lotus’ brand again, and on this occasion it is doing so to present a collaboration suite that includes email, messaging, tasks, simultaneous online document editing, and more. Most importantly, it is easy to install and does not require running on a third-party cloud, thereby ensuring data sovereignty.

Engage has continued to be a top-class event (catering, quality of presentations, HCL’s attendance, sponsors, dinner venues, etc.). It was announced that next year’s event will be held in Belgium. I have no doubt that attendance figures will rise and return to the levels seen in previous years. As for me, that’s certainly the case, and I can’t help but count down the days until 2026, the next edition.

Engage 2026: HCL is making its move with AI Engage 2024. Thanks Theo. Welcome Kris & Tom
